FORESTVIEW SITE

HR

General Description

Located in Bells Corners on a quiet residential street, Forestview is owned by Harmer House which provides various residential programs for seniors. It differs from The In Community's other housing programs in that it offers communal living where clients have their own private bachelor unit and share a common kitchen and living room area on the ground floor.

Front Entrance

The front entrance is located in the “bridge” that links Forestview to Harmer House. There is a pathway leading from a concrete pad at the street which serves as a drop off for people arriving by Para Transpo.

Communal Dining Room, Kitchen and Living Room

As you enter the main entrance there is a corridor (Photo 3). A right turn brings you to the entrance to Forestview Crescent . This door leads into an open dining room, kitchen and living room area shown in Photos 4 to 6. There is an automatic door opener operating the door leading into the main building and into the common area. The arrow in Photo 3 points to the paddle that operates the door.

Communal meals are available for clients in this area.

Photo 7 shows the hallway leading from the living room area to the staff office, elevator and first floor apartment.

Elevators

There is one elevator serving the building. The elevator door has a clear opening of 42 inches and the call button is 42 inches high. The elevator dimensions are sufficient to enable it to be used by individuals using mobility devices and it is equipped with an accessible control panel.

Individual Units

Each apartment unit consists of a large bedroom and a private bathroom. Photo 9 shows a typical unit.
