The Special Needs Equipment Exchange Service (S.N.E.E.S) recycles special needs equipment free of charge to children, adults and seniors with physical disabilities and their families.  Our inventory includes wheelchairs, walkers, mobility and bathroom aids and much more.

 

Since opening its doors, S.N.E.E.S has provided over 3, 200 special needs items valued at approximately $3,000,000 to more than 1,900 families and individuals.

 

S.N.E.E.S is a program of The In Community in partnership with the City of Ottawa, Canada Care Medical and Nortel Networks Community Volunteers – Ottawa Retirees Club.

 

Tax receipts are available for donated equipment that is appraised through The In Community and valued at $50.00 or more.


Only recognized pieces of special needs equipment will be issued tax receipts. Items purchased at commercial stores are not eligible for tax receipts. (ex. Swings, seats, toys etc purchased from a store such as ‘Toys R Us’ or ‘Walmart’).


Conditions: 

  • All items must be in good working order.
  • Recipient are responsible for having the equipment checked by a qualified professional before use.
  • We do not provide a pick-up or delivery service.
  • We do not check or verify the safety or proper functioning of any equipment.

  • Customized Orthotics
  • Children's toys that are not specific to special needs
  • Older Model Oxygen Carriers
  • Older Model Manual Wheelchairs
  • Manual Wheelchairs with very specialized custom seating
  • Power Wheelchairs
  • Respiratory Equipment
  • Scooters
  • Wheelchair Parts
  • Wooden Crutches
