The Barrier Free Assessment Service, at The In Community, provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations and businesses to receive advice related to accessibility. The service is provided by a staff member. The In Community volunteers donate their experience and expertise as a community service.
For those needing a documented accessibility audit of a facility or building, the Barrier-Free Assessment Service offers a comprehensive package consisting of:
Consultations are also available for those seeking accessibility advice with respect to planned activities, potential meeting or conference venues or projected relocation of office space.
FEE GUIDELINES
1. Fees are charged on an hourly basis for work that is estimated to take up to 30 hours to complete;
2. A 3 hour minimum fee will be charged for services rendered;
3. A flat fee will be negotiated for audits estimated to take more than 30 hours (for example, those involving more than one building such as a university campus or hospital);
4. Audits of facilities located outside the Ottawa area will have additional fees negotiated.

* Clients in this group will not be charged for work that is estimated to take less than 10 hours. A donation is requested instead.
The In Communitys recommends that you consult with an architect and the appropriate city building officials before implementing any recommendations made by the Assessment Service.
